Picture editing is a time-consuming and challenging task, but for a skilled professional, it can also be fun. It is a general term that refers to any process that involves making changes to a photograph. Albeit you have changed the border of an image, you have edited it to an extent.

There are some programs that serve as software for certain forms of edits. For instance, Microsoft Paint may not be your common photo editing software program, but it can be used to make changes to images. Editing works like a breeze in Paint; you only need to add a picture into it and make whatever changes you want to do in it. It and other such programs in regards to photo editing have some limitations.

However, the potential issues of mobile or cloud-based editing applications are more than that of programs that do not rely on the internet. You might have downloaded some editing apps from certain ecommerce stores, and these might have been effective at the tasks you have used them for. However, there have also been apps that have leaked private and important information of users.

The last thing you would want when using an app is to have your information leaked and reach the hands of a malicious party. What if someone with a shady character finds your picture, makes the kind of edits that produce sexually explicit output and it goes into the cloud? This is not a situation you would want to encounter after making just another photo edit.

In fact, Google Play has removed some such programs that have leaked sensitive user information. You might have read the news regarding the removal action taken by Google, but what about the billion others who might not have? They might still be using vulnerable programs from a security standpoint.

This is a possible issue with many editors, not just software for image modification. For instance, your conversation might leak through cloud-based audio editing software. Still, you have to be more mindful of this risk when using a similar app for any image containing sensitive personal data. If your image is of a landscape, then it being leaked into the wild west of the internet might be okay as far as you are concerned. The same might not be the case if that photo has you and your loved ones in it.
